EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

Better said that I should consider the $2500 credit from AMEX to apply towards their costs...which with promo were still higher than LC and AFM., LC and AFM both whom were the same for a 30 year fixed at 2.75 in GA, loan $250K at $2000 closing costs. I ended up going with a lender based out of Illinois that beat both of them by $150 from a neighbor referral. I don't know which states this bank offers mortgages for, but for anyone on the fence, it's worth considering Blueleaf/Midwest Bank once you have received your best LE. YMMV. http://bsalomon.blueleaflending.com/ is the page of the mortgage agent I used. Website was easy to apply and Brian was very straightforward and easy to work with.
do blueleaf beat other lender's LE?

Thanks. Looks like they will do a soft credit check ( no good) for just to enroll for the promotion. I am in the middle of closing a refinance with WF and looking at all the factors I don't see a benefit for me to consider Better.
Can you share your lender information, want to do refinance

Also had my loan sold to Wells Fargo after 1 month. For what it was worth, the 1 time I had to contact The Money Source was a nightmare and took multiple emails and on the phone for hours before getting someone.

If you read thru some of those complaints you would quickly realize being financially savvy means nothing with the type of issues they caused for people.
Such as? I'd genuinely like to see an example that wouldn't have become an issue without some better planning by the borrower. This is not to say that mistakes don't happen and that these companies can't suck, but rarely have I ever seen a genuine problem that couldn't have been easily overcome by the borrower.

Could you elaborate as to why you needed to contact them please?

I agree. Just set up ACH and Escrow and forget about it. If worried they'll screw up Escrow just pay that yourself.

The mortgage servicer may not have all the bells and whistles on their website and the best customer service but once you get everything set up in terms of ACH I can't see why would need to keep communicating with them.

so how can better planning get them to pay your escrow on time ? or answer the phone after 2 hours ? or send u delinquency notices before you are even starting to pay ?
how bout reading the page instead of just saying things we all already know. You must be a shill or something, or just start speaking without being educated on a topic.

Pay outside escrow, waive escrow, follow up early to identify the issue before delinquent. On my first house, I monitored and saw my October taxes weren't paid as month-end drew near. Paid them and reached out to find out why. Escrow company thought they were due Jan 1, reimbursed me. Never ran into it for the insurance company though, as I always pay that myself even with escrow so I can earn the credit card rewards points. I would imagine it would have said "no balance due" online if the escrow company payment had already gotten there.

Try your earnest not to have to call. As an adolescent, I got hit by a car with an inattentive driver as I was crossing a side-street on the sidewalk. He never intended on stopping at the intersection, so only looked to his left coming up to it vs. to the kid in the crosswalk. I was 100% in the right, but you can be damn sure that I watch for such moments and do what I can to avoid a scenario like that. I rather not be in the scenario at all vs. being in it, but in the right.

That on is harder. In all likelihood, engaging the servicing company would likely be necessary. However, the case/post I read was the borrower thinking they didn't need to make one last payment to their OLD loan and dealing with the OLD servicing agent about the late payment. There again, the underlying problem is the late payment, not the servicing agent.

I did, but perhaps I read didn't reports than the ones you did. There are no shortages of posts about any servicing company.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I tried to provide constructive feedback and genuinely was curious about such scenario. I'm not a shill, but I am educated on the topic insofar that I've read up on it and general experience with people at-large.

For me, Better refused saying that they don't match loans above 500K (I am also in CA).

Loan Cabin had the best rates by far out of all of discount originators I tried online. Yesterday, on 30 year FRM they sent me 2.875% with $5800 lender credit. Sent to Better to match and they said they have a $5000 lender credit cap so after adjusting the rate table to match this Loan Cabin quote, Better offered 2.75% with $4550 lender credit. Already have an updated LE from Better so will proceed accordingly. This is like the 5th competitor quote Better has done for me since locking in last Monday 7/6/20. I've had great customer service.
Nice. Congratulations for great lender credits . If you don't mind, may we know your loan amount? And LTV as well

For those that have "funded" with Better.com.... any experiences.

Days until the old mortgage shows being paid off?

If Better actually owes you money when they realize they figured the payoff wrong - how long to get a check?
