EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

Can anyone explain why better.com would want 2 months taxes and insurance prepaid when not going with escrow account?

Anyone know if this will be available if applying for a new American Express card? Worth signing up for a new card just to get this offer.

Yes. I don't know if anyone that did this has actually received the $2,500 credit yet though.

I applied for and was approved for an Amex card a day before I applied with better.com. To be safe I wanted to make sure I was officially an amex card holder before applying through the the amex link to the better.com deal. I don't anticipate having any issues getting the credit.

We closed with Loan Cabin This month at 2.25%. The interest rate was super low 2.25% 15 year fixed with a credit for closing cost. They advised they were behind due to loan volume buts it was worth the wait. Better.com rate was very high when we applied and did the initial application. Try [email protected] and they will respond quicker.

LC is notoriously slow. They replied to my request from a week ago. I just submitted a full app with them. So let's see what they do
Send them a message at [email protected]

Hope this helps

I got 2.5% with LC as well on a 30 year. Between those choices, is it better to take the higher rate with credit?

Are they charging origination or underwriting fee?

Me personally yes I would take the higher rate with the higher credit. Especially then there is a $1900 difference of 1/8 point. Look at the difference in the monthly payments and then divide the credit savings by the monthly payment difference. That's how many months it will take for you to break even.

What is lc? And credits is only one side of the story. Some give higher credits but they have higher loan costs. You have to really compare both the origination costs

I am in final stages with a task for reviewing and acknowledging initial closure disclosures, review and acknowledge closing best practices,

Questions:

1. Do I need to see a task at this stage for entering my amex card number ?

2. There is a task that says "We expect your loan to fund early in August. Please do not make your August mortgage payment as it could adversely affect your required cash to close."

Do I need to turn off auto pay for my current lender or what should we do here?

Thank you.
If autopay is on, it will get paid.
If autopay is off, it will not.

So, the answer is to turn it off. Now.
BUT, I would keep an eye on your actual closing date, and what date a late fee from your current lender would kick in.

Thanks. What about the task of providing amex card #, is it on day of closing when I sign the final documents?

Nevermind just got the task to enter amex information.
The Amex credit task appeared for me the day I signed the CD and scheduled a closing date.
