EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

How many new apps did you open?

The new officers that I was assigned to are really horrible. They say they matched, then goes on to give me $8000 in points. Quite ridiculous.
One in April that closed in May. One in June that will close next week. And now one in July.

I actually really like my guy. Unlike most at Better, he is very quick to respond to emails and handle any requests I send him. I just hope he doesn't see the app and feel salty knowing that I will refi the loan he's already processing. If he is cool with that, I would love to work with him again.

What is his name? Did you get the $2500 from May?

And are you refinancing immediately after it closes next week?

Wow 3 in a row. I'm late in this game so this is my first one.
I thought many lenders won't let you refinance till at least 6 months after one closed.

Yup, got the May payout last week. I would sit on round 3 until later, but the deadline to apply and all. I plan to not submit even a competing loan estimate until about 20-25 days out though. So about two weeks after round 2 closes. This is only because of worries they will close out the app at 30 days. I will re-evaluate that in mid-August and wait longer if there is reasonable confidence the app won't get closed. Maybe I'll do a task item a week to show activity lol.

So I was a little surprised that the appraisal charge went through, in my intial communications my LO they said "Your loan estimate is now showing $0 in origination charges and lender credits in the amount of $1,256. Please note that the appraisal fee will also be removed because an appraisal in not required for your loan."

I emailed my processing expert asking how that would work with the $550 charge going through on my card (not just pending), her response today was, "In regards to the $550 charged on your credit card for the appraisal, that will be refunded to your credit card at the closing of your loan."
Well, Amex should refund $550 for the 1st charge that we pay upfront. But the $550 on the LE should be removed from the final disclosure(my LO confirmed that today).

Is the better.com decline to match and you close elsewhere only $100 now? Wish it was still 1K, a family member had a WM pm declined today and I submitted my WM pm request. Still no word from loan cabin.

So this should be interesting. The app I opened Friday night got reassigned today to the same loan officer I have for my current in-flight mortgage using the Amex offer. Hmmm. He hasn't said anything yet though.

Interesting too, that in all three of my apps, whoever got it first was then reassigned within one business day.
There is a team of concierges that deal with the AMEX promo application. So first you get assigned to whomever but once they see the promotion, they switch you to somebody from that team. That is what happened to me and this is the explanation I was given.

I reapplied on the deadline in hopes of getting a 2nd round in. Like others, I'm going to sit on it though for closer to the 30 day mark. I want to get my first bonus and I need to clean up a couple of things on my credit report.

I called my LO and he mentioned the same. The appraisal fee should be 0 in the final disclosure. Lets see.

My refi is in-flight before I have made the first payment on the previous. So, I was a little concerned that will cause trouble.... but your case is more interesting... refi with the same lender and same LO.. Smilie
Do keep us posted on how it goes...

How is Better with accepting to waive escrow? Do they raise the locked in rate if one asks for the escrow to be waived? I locked my rate on July 22. Have not checked with them yet on whether they would waive escrow without affecting my locked in rate.

Has anyone experienced a decrease in lender credit after pulling title?

My original credit was $1300 and now it's $400 after they "found" a tiny lien on my home (less than $10k lien - not heloc/2nd mortgage) that I told them about on day one. My LO is saying it that's typical but no one bothered telling me it reduced (I noticed it by happenstance reviewing my LE online).
