This is a good deal as someone who cashed in on this price about 5-6 months ago during the Black Friday in July sales. I do need to qualify that this isn't the lowest ever as it matches the sale Best Buy had on this item with a student coupon that people could register for.

It's a solid machine. I love how thin it is, its powerful, has tremendous battery life, and the design is discrete enough that it doesn't shout "im an obnoxious gamer machine" The thing that I loved the most was how balanced it is with price and power.

I've read tons of reviews and research on this machine before I bought it. The biggest compromise people will make is the screen. The color accuracy receives criticism so if you're needing a super accurate screen for photos or video it might not be the machine for you. For my part I find the screen to be great and the 120 is nice. I remember going back and forth with the Dell 60hz or this and I have no regrets.

You get a great blend of everything in this machine both in form factor and power which is what I was looking for. Super gamers may want something more but if you're more of a moderate gamer this is a solid machine.
I own this machine. I'm surprised nobody ever mentions the audio.

The speakers are some of the best I have used for gaming purposes on a mobile platform. Audiophiles may complain because the bass is too much for the small speakers but honestly I love it assuming I'm playing at 25-50% volumes. It's a nice break from really twittery high pitched thin speaker sounds from other laptops...

Honestly I am going to wait for 7nm architecture on laptop along with more than quad core. It's coming up soon.

Yeah, I always questioned what have held AMD from releasing their APUs for so long after releasing their CPUs. Their APUs always lag behinds their CPUs by a whole generation.

This GPU is normally paired with the 9300H/9750H. Zen+ Ryzen 7 feels like such an oversight on Asus' part. No UV nor hexa available.

you mentioned tremendous battery life. how many hours can this last?

i'm skeptical any gaming laptop lasts long on battery.

I don't own this particular laptop but generally that's the advantage of the max-q design, it saves a lot of power compared to the standard GPUs.

i don't think Max-Q itself saves battery life or it's a negligible factor at best. laptops that have card that can toggle non discrete to discrete will be 95% factor of battery life and even then it's not that great of a jump.

Max-q is more for heat dissipation and quieter fan noise for putting higher gpu's in ultra thin laptops underclocked.

anyways, i was just curious what the number of hours were since he posted battery life

Very fair to be skeptical. I'm sorry I can't quote exact hours but you'll find many reviews out there that break down this machine and do time that battery. I'll make sure to pay more attention to quantity of hours but I'll tell you when I'm browsing or doing basic computer work it could go 5-6 easy (sometimes it says I have 8-9 hours left but I always am skeptical of that). I think one site had it rated around 5 hours and manufacturer says 8. As I'm sure you know it depends on the modes and resources you're using. It's considered to have a stronger battery than many gaming laptops. When switching to games though, as I'm sure you're aware it depends on the demand of the game.

I'm sorry for not mentioning the audio but you are right...it's great! I was pleasantly surprised when I first played a game on how good it sounded.
