I wish the promotional card could be used right away since I was about to spend a few hundred there today. But still definitely worth the time to buy the gift cards first and have a $60 to spend later.
How does that work exactly? How can they give you a gift card with an expiration that short? Federal law requires 5 years. Do they have a monthly maintenance fee equal to the value of the card that hits you on 2/01/2020?

Bonus gift cards CAN be restricted like this; I believe because it's in excess of the cash amount paid. Restaurants do this too. This is neither new nor news.
Any limit on how many gift cards can be used per/purchase?
I want to know this as well. Getting a stack of $20 bonus gift cards if you're limited in how many GC's you can use on a transaction would negate trying to use this promotion to make a large item purchase after Christmas.
It seems to state that promotional gift cards can't be used to purchase gift cards. Does anyone know if Guitar Center generally allows gift cards to be purchased with gift cards or are they just doing it here to prevent rolling the promo gift cards?
Also hoping for an answer to the limit on the number of cards that can be used in a single transaction.

I don't know the answer to that. Perhaps you could be so kind as to check and share you findings.
FWIW, I ended up buying the guitar I was after from Musician's Friend. I got 15% off the top by calling them asking for a discount and I then I got 24% in points on the discounted price toward a future purchase. Many items currently have double and triple points. The guitar I wanted had triple points. Since I have some things to buy in the near future to use the points on (once they vest), it ended up being a much better deal for me.
