i would imagine one reason why some stores are doing the rebate bs is because Amazon won't price match such a deal and take away all their customers. That's probably just one of many reasons. I'm not an expert though.

The only thing I can find is the downside is that it's apparently 5ms at 144hz.

its actually 1ms, 144hz. At least according to Amazon specs. this is a pretty damn good deal for a Curved screen, Freesync, 144hz, 1ms monitor
