Every time I give Seagate a chance, I regret it. I've had every one of their drives die on me going back 15 years. Every so often, people tell me 'they're better now' and it's never true.

But for $75... It's a really good deal.

Fool me once, etc.

I have this drive and it literally died shortly after a year of use. Also in the same week as my other Seagate 3TB external hard drive connected to my Xbox. I'm a little wary of Seagate now.

Thanks for posting. What Amex card do you have? I don't see this on my Blue Cash Everyday.

Mine is simply called "Blue Cash". It's a card from long time ago, not sure the differences between the card types.

Can we attach a SATA to USB 3.0 to use the barracuda drives? Or does the USB not have enough power to do that?

I don't think you can hook up external drive to a DirecTV DVR I ask the installer one time and he said that they have it where you can't do that no more if you find out something different please let me know very interested in this idea

you can. done it a ton of times. you just need to connect it with an eSata cable. So make sure either the external drive has an eSata input (rare) or buy an enclosure with an eSata input and put a drive in there. In the case of this drive from Staples, you'd need to take out the drive inside and put it into an enclosure with an eSata port and connect it to the eSata port in the back of the DVR with an eSata Cable.

How often did you use it?

I'm using mine for storage and putting it away, limiting read/writes
