this is becoming an insanely good deal. it was a good deal at 399, better at 349. and now 299? it's one of those slickdeals i'm tempted to buy even though i dont need it!
I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛
Review for the laptop [notebookcheck.net]

Seems to be 2 M.2 slots and 1 DDR4.

So, I did receive one of those angled USB-C to 5.5x2.5mm adapters and can confirm that charging with PD works just fine! My USB-C PD 65W charger is about half the size of the Motile charger. Noice!

Also, bought a Mosiso sleeve for about $10 (search Amazon), fits nicely. Ordered a similar Voova sleeve for about $13 for my other Motile. (my resistance was futile, so I bought them both Motile!)
You have a link where you got it? The adapter

Yeah, select the appropriate icons on the right side under specialty buttons.

Hate to repeat myself.. but it seems like i am the only one using the hdmi output extensively because hard to believe no one else here has posted anything about it.

I've gone thr three M142 now. They all seem to have some issues with hdmi. The first one keeps intermittently blanking out for no reason... even with just having the standard windows background only with no apps running.

second one did better but still having the same issues. just less frequent

third one i am on now seems to have issues only when i play a video on the 2nd screen connected via the hdmi using chrome. playing with firefox seems ok.

these things only seem to happen on the hdmi screen. the laptop screen itself never have anu blanking out problem. I am thinking this is somehow related to the vega igpu.

Was hoping more people would maybe check out and see if they have this issue but seems like no one else cares or really use their hdmi frequently.

My HDMI port works fine with 1080p output, but when I try 4k 60, it "pops" and then the external monitor loses signal. I would say be weary of these machine outputting a consistent 4k signal.

I purchased this adapter from Amazon and it works great with a 100W portable USB C power bank. The adapter fits a little snug in the laptop charging port. I tested my OEM charger to make sure that the adapter didn't damage the charging port, and the OEM charger still charges the laptop with no issues. You need to have a PD charging supported USB C cable. As previously stated, the watt requirement is 65W.

The issue with this laptop is with videos and gifs. If you toggle to other browser tabs or if the page is gif intensive, the laptop will sometimes freeze requiring you to hold down the power button to turn off the laptop. It does not unfreeze on it's own.

I think it's an issue with the GPU. I upgraded to 16GB of RAM and it still freezes if scrolling too quickly through videos or webpages with many gifs.

I agree with the poster above. I am expecting laptop freezing frequently and there is no way to recover, the only option is to restart with the power button. Also, I am struggling to bring this computer back from sleep, it works sometimes, other times, it doesn't come back up. Maybe I am doing something wrong and would like to see if anyone else has a similar issue.
I am planning to return the laptop as it has multiple issues which I don't want to deal with even though I like the laptop and the accessories it came with.

I use 4k @60HTZ daily without issue. Windows in general and Youtube specifically run flawlessly. I output via HDMI to an LG OLED B8 TV. My HDMI cable is nothing special, nor did I do anything special to the laptop -- no BIOS update, no Windows reload, and all drivers via standard Windows Update.

If you're running a stock setup like me, and you've tried three laptops without success, I'd guess the problem is on your end. It's got to be a cable, your TV/monitor, or software (I use Microsoft's Edge beta browser).

Let me know it there's something you'd like me to try to help you troubleshoot the problem. I'd hate to see you have return what I think is the best cheap laptop you can buy.

I've finally had a chance to try the Motile with my 4k TV (a TCL 55R615). It's working fine for me as well with the default settings. Played about 20 minutes of youtube (mix of 1080p and 4k content) with no blanking.

If you're using a monitor (as opposed to a TV) -- what's your pixel format and color depth set to? (look in the Radeon settings under displays). Mine is fixed at 8bpc and YCbCr 4:2:0 respectively. If yours aren't, you might try changing them.

As an aside, I get dropped frames on 4k@60fps Youtube content. 4k@30 is perfectly smooth though.

Have you tried updating to the latest AMD drivers (https://www.amd.com/en/support/ap...-ryzen-5-1)? That's the only driver change I made (well, and changing the wifi driver due to switching the wifi card).

Thank you but the link doesn't seem to work for me. When I tried to go to the AMD website to download the latest drivers, the laptop froze again with me requiring a restart again. Maybe it's a lemon I got, but I have seen similar freezing complaints from others on message boards which leads me to believe there is a problem with these machines.

Since I was curious to make sure this isn't an issue for my laptop, I went and used Chrome and went to the homepage of Giphy (a popular gif sharing website). I also browsed some individual gifs, and explored some pages that had tons of gifs on that site. Does going to that site recreate the problem? Seems to have no issues. I did not update using any drivers from the Motile Customer Service website, only have done some Windows Updates so far, so it's pretty much stock/factory here.

For me, it was doing it randomly, watching youtube, browsing websites etc. I didn't have a specific problem when I went to giphy and it worked fine. I am also on stock drivers with only Windows updates so far.
I am upgrading the drivers to see if if the problem continues.

I wouldn't, try and turn off the hard-drive acceleration in Google Chrome's accessibility first.
