ive had a few random shutdowns recently when running on battery power. both times i had over 60% battery life. it seemed like the laptop powered down as if it had run out of battery.

The HDMI is an output port, not an input. It is for displaying a second screen, or mirroring the display to a television

Click "No"
clear out the files that are in C:\windows\temp from today
Reboot and Click "Yes" to let it try again.
If it keeps failing, you will need to run the BIOS update yourself (as administrator, there's instructions on the WIKI and a few pages back)
or just click no Smilie
Thanks for your response, along with the gentlemen on top.

The exact message I get is :

"The AFUWINx64 update utility will re-flash the main BIOS, NVRAM, and non-critical blocks, to address issues with wake-from-sleep on certain Motile systems.

The system will restart once complete.

Press the Update button to continue, or press Exit. You may also close this Window"

This all started 3 days back when I downloaded the file to update bios on this thread. So now when I click Exit, It always comes up. I can live with it, but it's somewhat annoying.

Because a few members have bricked their laptops, I'm trying to be careful.

After owning the laptop (R5 version) I'm pretty impressed. The laptop is definitely worth it even at $429.99 (Only the R5 though). I'd say you're getting $550-599 in value at minimum. In my own opinion, It's comparable and performs similar to what you'd find in $700+ HP laptops If you decide to upgrade the ram.

I upgraded the ram to 16GB. The first thing that surprised me is the performance and speed of the laptop, it's very comparable to a desktop super computer I built in 2013, i7-4770 (without a powerful gpu obviously, also put 16GB that pc)
if you can find costco i5 HP and get that at $300, its still a better deal than motile

Also busted my x-rite display calibrator out and this laptop screen brightness registered at 192 nits after disabling Vari-Bright in Radeon software. Terrible as this lcd panel is supposed to be able to hit 250 nits oem. Anyone else have a calibrator where you can check your screen brightness and report back? Don't wanna exchange if this is normal max brightness for this laptop.
I just tried with my calibrator (i1studio) - I get 215 nits.

I performed all of the updates (windows, AMD Radeon, BIOS) and I can't get the laptop to wake up from sleep when I close the lid. I close the lid, open it a couple of mins later and then press keys (even the power button) and the screen never comes on. Has anyone experienced this?

I wasn't even aware those existed. I think this only supports digital displays (HDMI or DVI) without a fancy active adapter.

I started getting a bios update popup upon reboot. There's a BIOSInstaller executable in Windows/temp that wants to run on every restart. I updated the bios to 1.05 as per Pinako's post #495. Anyone else get the popup? Is 1.05 the latest bios update?
