If they wanted to avoid the confusion of what this blower is for, they shouldn't put lawn tools in with the ad for this device. Either amazon or makita is trying to suggest that this is a blower of leafs.

Wow, that ends up @ ~$245.. that's a pretty sweet deal compared to normal price for that particular kit (if you already had some Makita 18v LXT batteries/charger around, you could probably get close to $200 on craigslist for the 4 batteries+charger). I'd probably bite if I didn't already have the Milwaukee M18 fuel blower.
So say one is looking to start fresh in a "new ecosystem" ...what do you recommend ?
for someone that would use maybe a light ratchet for auto work. Add a small blower with the usual drill and impact. Don't need huge leaf blower or weed eater.

If you don't need anything super heavy duty (i.e. you're not planning to build a 1000 square foot deck), I'm partial to the Milwaukee M12 fuel lineup which has a very wide variety of handy tools. The Impact+Hammerdrill+2 batteries kit has shown up here a couple times within the last week or so for $160-180 - that'd be a good start. I use my M12 fuel hackzall for a ton of stuff (demo, pruning, rough sizing of big lumber, cutting pipe, etc), but I've also got the circular saw & ratchet which both have proven useful. They've got a newer M12 Fuel Stubby impact wrench that is rated at 250 ft-lbs of torque, as well as a new "installation driver", and a new right angle die grinder as well.. and virtually all of their tools are well received/well rated.
The biggest thing Milwaukee lacks - in my opinion - is a track saw. I recently picked up Makita's 36v (18v x 2) track saw so now I have Milwaukee M12, M18 and Makita 18v LXT.
Agree 100%. I have that blower and it's superb.
