One of these days, I am going to cave and bite on this. This one keeps popping up time and again and I have a hard time resisting.

You don't have to wait very long, this deal comes once every other month... From Newegg or Amazon

True... and that is the struggle. I really don't have a need for it. But then SlickDeal creates the want.... must resist!!

All the Amazon and Youtube reviews say otherwise - that game loading times are improved a lot. And compared to external ssd there's minor differences.
Is that not correct?

Reviews are just rubbish. Check bench urself. This 5 year old hd's 4k read is just horrible. That's what matters for game loading. you need to load games 10 times at least to feed that tiny ssd in order to get some sort of improvement. hey it's already 9012 who needs that. we have Intel RST for free.

Yes, the description stated 7200 RPM which is the 3.5 inch desktop version but that is $80 not $60.

An external HDD is what you are probably remembering and they connect to the PC via USB either 2.0 or 3.0 which is slow. While these are faster, 5400 RPM is dead slow and made for laptops mostly. The 3.5 inch 7200 RPM version is $80. However, I bought a 1 TB NVME drive for less than $20 more. Now that is fast.
