The main difference between the TCL 6 series (and other higher quality LED TVs) that this and every other $300 or less TV don't do is local dimming (meaning the TV can control the brightness of individual zones instead of the entire thing at once leading to much better black levels) and significantly higher peak brightness (mostly relevant to HDR content). Those things are both great to have but I imagine for $400 the vast majority of people would rather have a lower quality TV with a bigger screen.
