I bought the bow flex ones and returned them because it felt cheaply made. I bought this set and have been very happy with the build quality. As always, ymmv but hope you find what you're looking for!

Great set of dumbbells, sturdy and easy to change weights. Not great for those with large wrists/forearms. You can't drop these more than a few inches the manual that comes with them says it voids the warranty.

This or the Powerblock EXP Stage 1? They're the same price.

From reddit: "The Personal Trainer set doesn't expand past 50lbs, which is fine if you don't think you'll ever go past that on dumbbells. Elite has two expansions to go from 50 to 70 and from 70 to 90. The EXP one looks similar in features to the Elites, not sure, don't even see the difference in features on their sites, just aesthetics? And the last one (Sport 50) doesn't have adder weights in the handle for a lot less increments (9). I got the Elites personally and they're great. I found an excellent deal on them through Google Express, though they do fluctuate in price on Amazon as well as low as $240, which is a bit more than I got them for through a Google Express coupon (20% off)."

I purchased these over a year ago after reading reviews and handling a variety of weights in the store. They beat out bowflex for me due to the ability to add more weight (I'm a weakling, but after a year of regular use have had to purchase the first added weight set) and the simplicity of the mechanism. It's very easy to change weights and they are much shorter than most of the competitors.

The downsides are that they're louder to use (the 5lb increments rattle a little) and they look weird. I'm also not sure that they're fully accurate, as when I travel, the same weights in other gyms seem heavier.

Those are some funky looking dumbbells. Will probably wait for those Bowflex ones to go on sale instead.

Larger men will likely blow by the 50-pound limit after 12-18 months into usage.

Small man like me blow by 50 lbs easily too but there are still a lot of exercises one can do...tricep kickbacks, bicep curls, wrist curls etc that many would not need 35lbs, let alone 50 lbs

These are great dumbbells and amazing quality. I had Bowflex and returned them. You can also expand these to 90lbs (70 lbs Stage 2 and 90 lbs Stage 3)
