It is a mixing pot of all souls games and titanfall wall running thrown in, which doesn't make it great nor terrible. The cinematic presentation of the game is the best thing it has going for it, with the rest of the game showcasing why it's bad to have a casual mode for a souls-lite since enemies act as minor roadblocks instead of instilling terror when you're close to death on lower difficulties. With difficulty turned up, the game just isn't compelling enough to warrant ripping your hair out over poor tuning of combat mechanics and half-baked ideas.
It is in essence, a rip-off of better games just set in SW universe. It is a try at $40, buy at $20 IMO.
I'd suggest getting to that backlog first. I bought digital at $35 (ebay) and after putting some hours in I thought "I should have waited." It's not a bad game but it's also definitely not polished and it seems to have low replay value. We're just one month out from it's original release and it's already on sale for $20 off.
I really dont understand where all the hate for this game is coming from. This game is awesome. It takes way more then 20 hours for completionists. Many hidden secrets to explore, hidden chests, and things like that. Great story, good character development. I paid full price for the game and have no complaints. I'm about 30 hours in and still a little ways from the end.

Damn that is tempting...I'm still working through my Black Friday games, curious how long it'll be till the next price drop. I never buy EA games (not bc their evil, I mean they are but I don't like sports games lol) wondering how steady their prices tend to stay. Anyone could shine a light, would appreciate it!
If you don't have backlogged game and wanted to play this game, get this price right now, especially when you have 25% good bye GCU coupon, BBY cert saved up or whatever. Yes, this will be available in EA Access but it a matter of when. Good guess is mid next year before or after E3 but again only if you don't have backlogged library.
How's this game? Boring or exciting to play? Is it worth 40 bucks?

If you're a Star Wars fan (casual or not) and enjoy single player campaign game. you will definitely like this game.
ZERO mulitplayer nor battle royale mode. This is nothing like Battlefront II with pay to win practice and such.

I beat the game in 15 hours jedi knight difficulty, not worth 40 dollars.
