These have been at this discounted price point for a while but they get overlooked. If you are looking for a basic shaver that can operate both cordless and corded, this is a good option.

This is the same shaver as the Norelco 3100, but it includes a much better battery and charger system (8 hour charging, 45 minute runtime for 3100 vs 1 hour charging, 60 minute runtime for Philishave). The Philishave also throws in a basic travel pouch.

The 3100 is one of Norelco's best sellers and normally runs $40-$50 so this is nice discount over normal pricing plus you get the better battery system. Here's an Amazon link to the 3100 for reviews and more info:

I've never used anything but a shaver like this for my face. In my opinion, it will not give you as close/smooth of a shave as a razor, but it's faster and easier. I've never had an issue with razorburn or anything like that, even when I first started shaving.

If you let your stubble grow to long, it will be a painful shave as these are not really meant to remove a beard - rather to maintain a clean-shaven face.
Empty/clean it before packing.

Never used a dry shaver. Better or worse than wet shaving in terms of skin comfort post shave?

Was it on clearance at your store, that 5100 has a better battery and easier to clean

Ahh see I do the latter a lot so I'll definitely avoid. I like how wet shaves feel anyway haha!

It's very good. I bought its previous version on 2014 for almost $100. It still works well and the blade is still sharp. However, I never do wet shaves before.

I'm curious if anybody can compare this to a foil shave. I only used a DE blade for years and took a flyer on a Braun 7 series that has been great.

But the quality on the replacement foils has tanked and now I just need to buy a new shaver.

This costs the same as a new foil, but I don't know if this is close to the same as the Braun 7 series.

I don't have this specific model, but I used Philips Norelco 7310xl for many years until I switched to Braun 9290. What I've noticed is, Norelco shaves closer to the skin and does a better job shaving, but the downside is, you are more likely to get razor burns or skin irritatoin at times. With Braun, I've never had skin irritation, but it doesn't shave as good as Norelco's rotary shavers.
