$638 with 1 checkin bag for a ticket in August and to Delhi ( one of major airport ) is not a great deal at all. If you find same price later 3-4 months down the line, it is a good deal. Delta usually offers around 700 to 800 with 2 checkin bags to delhi and other cities as well.
Lol. Say what?

That flight sucks. Newark to Delhi almost 15 hours??? Be ready if you do.

New Delhi has been ranked among the most polluted cities in the world. The air quality is exceptionally bad. And it's way too overcrowded. Hard pass.

FWIW - If you want to go to India there really isn't a 'great' flight experience from the states short of paying a lot of money. It's a lot of travel time in the air.

If you've never been, traveling alone is probably not a great idea. The cities are vastly different from a typical American city so having someone else along is good not just for conversation but to evaluate the situations you'll find yourself in.

Culturally... it's riveting. Doing a structured tour just to get a feel for the way things work will help.

Also, if you plan to go. You have to 'plan' to go. There are shots to get at a travel clinic, passports, etc.

And on the return flight... pay to have your luggage wrapped. It's cheap. Maybe 5$ USD. But the plastic wrap will save your clothes from being damp and odd smelling.
