This appears to go in and out of stock at Best Buy; have seen it come in and out of stock 3 times in the past 3 days. Don't have one, but depending on condition, could be a good get on a full wattage (175W for laptops) 5090.

Edit: was in stock for a few hours, just went out of stock again. Anyone interested should probably keep an eye on this listing, comes and goes, probably as they process the refurbs. Edit 2: back again.

The Helios 18 stands out as a huge, high end gaming laptop that also makes sense for AI work, with the 18 inch chassis giving the cooling system more room and the RTX 5090 offering 8GB more VRAM than a 5080. The extra size and weight should help it run cooler than smaller models, and the 64GB memory and four DRAM slots add headroom for larger models. The main caution is that mobile 5090 performance is far below a desktop 5090, and the platform can still run hot under load. That makes it a powerful but very heavy machine with desktop class ambitions and laptop limits.

It can be okay these days. Cooling technology has improved a lot, and cooling is also a function of physical size, which an 18" has a decent bit of. I mean sure it will get hot under load, but it shouldn't cook itself if Acer remotely built it right.

Yeah, and that extra 2 inches and the (likely) extra thickness/weight should help it all run cooler than otherwise as well.
