Great specs... I'd be all over this if it had USB-C charging.. just at my max weight limit for my use-case. But not quite enough for me to return my motile m142

Edit: to clarify, great specs inly if you do get an i5 10-series G5 "free" upgrade. Additionally, 1080p, 2 ram slots and m.2 avail for upgrade makes it worth considering. If only an i3, not hot.

This is the same laptop that was $280 on Black Friday I believe. If so, this is a pretty good buy.

Install Linux Mint on it and even with 4gb ram it will be blazing fast and good enough for most common usage (web browsing, email, reading document, learn to code, etc...). The interface of Mint is surprisingly good and extremely Windows user-friendly. Most Windows user doing those task would have no problem transitioning. Installing program is also an improvement over Windows.

Perfect Linux machine for your parents or grandpa/grand ma.

Intel still facing chip shortages? I think that's why these ended up shipping with i5s instead of the i3s

4GB RAM and 128GB SSD are low for $299.99 laptop (retails $399.99). The 1080p IPS screen is nice. I would be a little bummed out if I ordered and I got the i5 rather than the i3. The nice screen and hopefully the bump up i5 processor would compensate for the low 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD.

In the other thread, it also posts "Some reports now of new shipments of i3's arriving in stores. YMMV..... Ehhhh and that was from November so it makes me believe these newer shipment laptops (after black friday and xmas sales) will come with the i3 10th gen processors as they originally stated.

I got one of these off Amazon for $345 - it was obviously a resold costco computer. It had an i5 in it. I upgraded the ram to 16GB for $50 and this thing is excellent so far. Waiting on 2tb nvme SSDs to go down in price.

For the price these are great for upgrading - 2 RAM slots and a legit M2 slot.

Went in store and grabbed 2. Now that they even say i5 on their box lol. Just need to go in and do price adjustment later on.

Edit: link to the proof of i5 https://imgur.com/qNq3n7U
Also I read that if you order online now there's a chance getting i3 instead

Is that price adjustment guaranteed?

I recall reading the pre-BF $280 Costco thread where somebody bought earlier and stated Costco would not do price adjustment because it's a BF pricing.

This is not BF pricing though. Costco is generally good about price adjustments.

Never did anything specifically for laptop before. But I've done price adjusting several times at Costco for other stuff and they all turn out well (worst case scenario you just have to buy it again and return the old one)

It is the same one from BF. I bought one and can confirm it is an i5 not an i3. Very snappy little device.
