Well, that's definitely the plan. But does the TV interface continually try to steer you toward using those services? Can those menus I see on images of the TVs on the websites that show all the tiles for Netflix, etc - can that be disabled?
I don't know about this particular TV but you can usually either set a default Input to switch to when the TV is turned on, or use hdmi control (CEC) to do it for you.
When I turn on my Shield, it turns the TV on too and switches it to the shield. You still might see the Home screen momentarily before it switches.

Is this real 120 Hz?

Also will it be 120 HZ when connected to a windows laptop? or where does the 120hz apply

The smart tv option is not an "extra" like a leather interior; you don't pay more for a TV that has it; you pay less. TVs without the smart TV interface tend to be lower brands and lower specs, so you get less for your money.
Yes all the more reason these features needs to be embraced instead of running away from them.

Sprinting toward dead center of the target demographic as though there's something positive about that only to cower and let it all be decided for me by ant farm operators doesn't have much appeal.

Well..I think majority approves and uses it. May be some new AI feature will detect usage and hide unused icons. Yes minorities will always have issues as everything including merits and laws are decided based on number of votes.

Glad that Qled is dropping in price. Maybe I'll get a 75" next Christmas. Got the TCL 55" QLED from buydig and it's awesome!

I have the m series Vizio and like the menus. They're not intrusive, there's even a free tv app on there. It also has Chromecast built in so you don't need to buy a separate streaming device.

These are not true QLED, there is no comparison to Samsung QLED. I laugh at the Vizio QLED branding.

It's not that Noticeable though for both of them...I am not a TV Enthusiast..but for Bedroom tv I would go with the 556, but if you are doing gaming/Cinema viewing I would go for 558. I really Tempted to buy a 556...but I will wait for it to down in $200 price range..
Could you point me in the direction of a low cost 55 inch that's will be used mostly for gaming

Unfortunately...there isn't one that is good gaming tv around $200... if there is one more then likely has a bad input lag & Black contrasts levels usually bad...
