I used to work there as an service advisor and know the tricks very well! Each store has service dollar, tires, alignment, and credit card sign up goals daily. Each store needs to hit it or get yelled at. EVERYTHING is negotiable!! Service, tires, etc. they have to make a sale and don't want you to walk out the door and not buy anything. Keep that in mind you filthy animals. I gotten the lifetime alignment for only $75 before when I was just a customer at a random firestone. You have to sweet talk them. If you need something fix or tire prices. Go get quotes everywhere then call firestone and tell them the best price you found and take 10-15% off that and tell them "that price" and if they can beat them you will leave XYZ auto shop and drive there now for their business instead. You need to play the game bc auto shops play you harder than I play with zachs mom on the weekends. Also big FYI every shop hates doing realignment after the initial bc it's free and they don't get paid. Watch them like a hawk and install camera if you have to bc they take you car for a test drive before and after alignments so "some" mechanics that is pissed bc they are commissioned and wasting their time on free is going to floor or slam on the brakes or basically wear n tear your shit up on purpose. But this is good deal if yo find a reputable shop that will do it correctly and if they don't, call corporate on their ass. They get scared shitless and the DM will personally call but then you shouldn't ever go back there again and need to find a different firestone or sister store due to revenge on your car there. Good luck you beautiful filthy animals. Love you
I have lifetime alignment and 2 out 3 Firestones reps change their tone when I mention I want free service. One just refused saying come back a month later. it sure wasn't like this a couple of years back.

Another Firestone story. Once I called ahead saying I want 4 new tires put on. They said come in asap. I goto the store with tires bought at a different store and they flat out said to come back in 2 weeks. I told them about my phone conversation, but they said I must have called the wrong store. Firestone was an authorized installer for my new tires.

I just go to another chain now and get treated with dignity.
Went to firestone for brakes and rotors once and their mechanic broke my left front axle and then admitted to it and then retracted when I got firestone corporate involved. I will never use firestone. Firestone did not refund the brakes nor the cost for a new left front axle. Firestone just refunded the a single rotor.

don't waste your time with the morons at Firestone. sure i'm sure there are some good ones out there but they are few and far between

i had the lifetime alignment back from when it was $79. they either don't actually do an alignment, or they do a bad alignment and try to blame it on something else to make money off you (ie blame your tires or suspension components), or they claim they can't do an alignment b/c of something else to make money off you (ie tires or suspension components), or they just straight up do a horrible job

all of the time and hassle of dealing with these places isn't worth the small amount saved. find a good local mechanic through word of mouth or online reviews, and get an alignment done properly and compensate them for what they deserve doing a good job on an alignment.

my local mechanic charges $90 for an alignment. not cheap. he guarantees the alignment for 5,000 miles and his alignments are SPOT on. somehow, his alignments last tens of thousands of miles whereas the firestone ones are never done right, or you don't know it wasn't done right until you do a rotation and your car pulls.

trust me folks, i used to jump on all of these Firestone deals like the $19 oil + rotation coupons. in the end, just not worth it. just lots of hassle, them breaking things, and extra stress.
True True True.

I wouldn't trust the guys at Firestone to hold my beer for 20 seconds while I tied my shoe, never mind honor this without somehow screwing me. That whole chain is as crooked as the leaning tower of Piza.
Yup.

They will do everything including using a crowbar on you suspension to tell you you need to spend 2, 3,400 before they can align it again...or they will not do it

All cars have front toe, caster, and camber adjustments, and most have rear toe, caster, and camber adjustments. The shops try to adjust only toe because it is much easier and quicker, but the others need to be checked and adjusted. In particular the rear toe and thrust angle will affect handling and tire wear.

This appears to be a "front end alignment" when what is needed is a thrust or four wheel alignment. Even if the front end alignment is perfect there can be excessive tire wear and handling issues if the rear is not also adjusted to fix thrust angle.

I hear that, but it is essentially impossible to do an accurate alignment without a rack. I've tried a lot of different methods, but unfortunately no one has found a way to adjust thrust angle accurately enough without a rack.
Simply incorrect. All cars have toe adjustment but caster and camber aren't widely adjustable from the OEM. This is why aftermarket ball joints and camber and caster plates are available. The OEM treats these as bent suspension pieces and ask you to just replace the whole upper arm or other lever arm in order to fix these issues. Additionally neither one of those (camber or caster) becomes an issue unless widely out of spec even if one side is on the high side of spec and the opposite side is on the low side of spec. Toe is really what matters in regard to tire wear and what most of the non-performance minded car drivers care about anyway.

Reading the comments really scares me but I decided to pull the trigger since if it sucks, I will only lose $110. I am in Portland, OR, my car is a 2019 Tundra and the shop charged me $109.79. Initially they added $7.95 shop supply but I was wondering what it is and the guy removed it for me. No alignment today and looking to do the first one. I am thinking to go to the highest rating shop on google (4.2) in the few around my place.

You want to know why the shop owner likes BMW owners? Ask Scotty.

Very few people will rag on your car so If you are gonna tip anyone, tip Zach's mom.

And definitely some Firestone shops are run better than others imho.

I had the same thing personally. They told me that the tie rods were stuck and they couldn't get it apart to do the alignment. They quoted me hundreds of dollars for a new end. I took it to a mechanic I trust that loosened it in less than 30 minutes and said there wasn't anything wrong with it. I paid them $20 for just the inspection.

Funny enough, I heard them tell another customer the same thing another time I was in store, so this might be one of the scams to try to upsell you.
why go to a mechanic you don't know if you already have a mechanic you trust?

(1) For the $125 associated with the ADAS calibration. Is this the cost for LIFETIME ADAS Calibration services that FIrestone performs at the same time as your alignment?

(1)(a) If so, do you have to buy the life time ADAS package today to get the $125 price?

(2) Or do you have pay the ADAS calibration services prices that are CURRENT/EFFECTIVE at the time of your future alignment (today $125 tomorrow $150)?
Lifetime calibration. I was told it is required.

I just got back from my local Firestone to sign up for the lifetime alignment. Signup only, service at a later date.

I have a 2017 Honda Pilot Touring AWD, with all of the "driver assist" capabilities (adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, emergency braking, etc). My final cost was $120 (no "shop fee" that others have talked about). I went in there prepared to argue the relevancy of ADAS and wheel alignment, but thankfully didn't have to.

I know there's a lot of hate on this post against Firestone, but I've had 3 cars over the years signed up for Lifetime Alignment all using the NYD discount and have had absolutely zero issues with multiple alignments. As someone else said, San Diego is full of potholes.

Sure, there may be a lot of bad Firestones out there, maybe more bad than good, but they're not ALL bad.
Ugh, I have the exact same model. I really didn't feel like arguing beyond telling him that it made no sense. Found the blog post linked previously while waiting so figured it might be Firestone policy. Guess I'll see what corporate's perspective is.

A simple Google search might have kept you from going there.
