Down from 400 is a bit off the mark, these are $259 everywhere right now, for what it's worth

The infinity r12 at $143 right now is a much better sub than this. It's on backorder right now but you can still order it.

I had the PSW10 for 8 years, paid ~$70 for it back in 2008 and used it up until 2016. The PSW10 is a entry level sub and is probably one of the best entry level subs but this Klipsch is in a different class. I upgraded to a Klipsch Sub-12HG and was blown away by the difference- I knew it was better but wow, the bass was more impactful and clean vs the PSW10 where the bass was muted/muddy.

Now, is the Klipsch the best at this price point? That's a different question and one I can't answer but if you can afford it and have a large enough room (anything bigger than 10x12 Id say) and can afford it, I'd consider the upgrade.

Thanks. Are you saying it's with the upgrade to this R-100SW or the 12HG you have? I do have a large room, open floor plan living/dining/kitchen with brick walls and high concrete ceiling. I don't need to blow out my windows but looking to improve overall quality.

I was saying the Sub-12 I got was an upgrade but even the R-100SW here should be an upgrade. Both the PSW10 and 100SW have 10" woofers, but the 100SW has 150 watt RMS amp (vs 50 RMS for the Polk) and goes down to 32HZ (vs 40HZ, might not seem like much but it is).

But again, as to whether or not this is the best sub around the $200 range, I can't say. I paid $200 for my Sub-12 3.5 years ago and spec wise, the Sub-12 is better I think (12" woofer, 300 watts RMS, goes down to 24hz) but the 100SW is the reference line vs the Sub-12 is the Synergy (which I think is their lowest end model. I'm running Klipsch Reference front floorstanding speakers + center (surrounds are Energy Take 5s) and I honestly think the resonance with matching speakers is nice.

It seems like the 100SW hit $140 back in July so this price doesn't seem all that great.

I'm no audiophile or anything so I'm sure someone can completely rip apart what I've said with more detailed specs and offer better recommendations, but I'd just like to think I enjoy reasonably good sound without spending a lot of money.

That is a better deal than this one! With subs, always go bigger when you can. Stay away from those tiny Definitive Technology subs.

Edit: NVM, that's no deal at all. Cant even add to cart.

There's so much more to a sub than size and wattage. There's a reason the infinity go on sale all the time. It felt like a low end subwoofer that comes with one of those soundbar packages. Tried many different locations and could not get it anywhere other that just mediocre after taking several measurements. This klipsch at least can fill a small room with tight bass/ decent curve. Worth the $200 bucks. In the end its all subjective so if it sounds good to you then that's all that matters

The 12 inch version is back on sale at costco for 200. The r-12 appears to have the same specs as the r-120, just less fancy looking.

Nope. It's right on the mark. Make sure your dealer is Klipsch authorized.

At the time the post was made there was a manufacturer deal for 259. From klipsch directly, amazon, best buy, etc. That has since expired, like this deal as well.
