The itchy effect is from the beta alanine and it's normal. I typically take 1/4-1/2 dose of preworkout and do just fine. My caffeine tolerance is fairly high since I drink it every morning anyway - I need the slight jolt from the other ingredients - most are harmless, especially when going below the recommended dose.
I think he's implying that one of the main effective ingredients in pre-workout is caffeine. I usually train on just caffeine and take unflavored creatine prior to or after my workout. I get what he's saying, and often follow this logic when I go to workout.

That said, these concoctions usually do get you a little more "amped" up for a workout (in my experience), however they often contain questionable ingredients that may not be great to ingest, when coffee get's you halfway. I do notice a difference in my ability to push a little harder and get a few extra reps when I use a good Pre-Workout.

Usually these pre-workouts make me really itchy, so I typically avoid them. I like ON, so I ordered one of these to try out. We'll see how I react and how it works.

Decent tasting stuff, but it's more like 15 servings, I.e. a joke at the price for what it is. Just chug some coffee with whey.

Has creatine in it...coffee doesn't Smilie

This is a great beginners pre-workout. Better than regular old C4 in my opinion.

Not even comparable. C4 all the way.

You need to try Beyond Lit or Ghost , both are wayyy better than C4 if you are feeling spendy

this stuff will get you going (for most folks), two things to keep in mind though:

a. this stuff is formulated in the LAB synthetically (even the caffeine). take at your own risk because this stuff is not regulated.

b. the effects of any pre workout will diminish with time as you body gets addicted to it.
