I find multiple core usage all the time in games today such as BFV and this is only going to increase as AMD Ryzen popularity has exploded.
Before you buy anything computer related, please spend some time doing some research on the CPU's you are considering.
Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed are two great YouTube sources.
For example, here is a video on the 4790k which is faster than the 4770k and it shows that at stock even the Amd 2600 is faster though not buy much.

the AF version of the 1600 is just a re-branded 2600 for less money. It's closely comparable to this CPU. Although it only has 6 cores compared to 8. Gl with your builds everyone. Happy new year.

I have not built a system in a while, any cheaper/better/future proof boards than MSI B450 Tomahawk? for a build now in Jan 2020.

Where are you seeing a refreshed 1600 for $85?

That setup is still very much relevant. Are you having issues gaming or unhappy with workloads? I would think long and hard about what you are trying to achieve. It's not worth to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading

I'm waiting to see if the higher core counts (12c/16c) trickle down to the lower price points with Ryzen 4. Even if they dont, maybe the 3900s or 3950s will come down in price. Certainly not this cheap, but I dont mind spending double if theres a decent bump in performance.
