I bought 2 during Black Friday. One looked new, but the other was obviously used/returned. It had marks on the white cloth and was missing the top sticky protecting the glass. I might not have been so sure it was used had I not been able to compare them. Mac Sales denied these being used/returned, so I guess Apple snuck a used item in a new box

. I decided to keep them as I got special cash back from raku10, but still waiting for my swap of the marked item to arrive.

Non Retail Packaging and Warranty is from the Vendor (not Apple). Those 2 are big red flags and tell you that they are not brand new. Best Buy was selling them for $199 -$10 Gift Card = $189 just a few weeks ago. I am sure they will come up on Sale again with BB or some reputed vendor.

I decided not to get the clearance deal at Nebraska furniture mart because some people were speculating a newer model? Now I'm regretting not getting it after setting up Hobebridge. NFM Didn't have it near me but they were going to ship it free from another location. How's the sound on this in your opinion? Mixed reviews in other deal posts. Thought about it when BB had it for $199 but was hoping for a deal to come back around like the NFM or Costco deals - $150ish. Guess I'll have to get that flux capacitor working.

Why buy this refurb unit when you can get a brand new one for $199 when on sale with full apple warranty?

This deal stinks!

These sound good. As deep as I am in the Apple ecosystem I went with the new echo studio (same tier as the HomePod) because of the open system nature. I also prefer Spotify to Apple Music (I'm into obscure euro EDM) so that was probably the deal breaker for me. If it wasn't for that I'd definitely go with the HomePod. If apple adds the features I need I'll def sell the studio and pick up a HomePod.

Is there some tip/trick to get "better" playlists on Apple Music? They seem very lame compared to Spotify

It wasn't just BB that had $199 so it seems like Apple is liquidating and new version is imminent.

Did you use HOOBS to set it up with a Raspberry Pi 4? I ordered one to install it with HOOBS as it is supposed to be more user friendly to use that as an interface instead of just Homebridge by itself.

I went home for Christmas and purchased Google Nest WiFi for my parents to upgrade their network, which includes a Google Assistant Point. I was really taken aback by how much of a dump Google Assistant takes on Siri. When I returned, I immediately sold my Homepod on eBay. Good thing too, I was able to get about $190 for it.
