Just a quick comment -- these are NOT recessed lights but basically "ceiling pimples". We have one in our upstairs hallway, and it's great for that location because the space is very tight next to the attic access.
They protrude 2-3" and are not flush with the ceiling, which makes sense since they can be mounted to a box as well as retrofitted to a can. Good price for two of them.

They protrude 2-3"? the entire unit is less than 7/8"
I have similar units installed and like recessed lights the only think protruding is the flange ring. these sit very tight to the ceiling.

Yea, if you don't live near a Menards, this MIR is completely useless. I still think $20 for these is a good price, but not a slick deal. Thanks though

Where are the specs? I can't find them anywhere on Menard's or Patriot's sites.
I could have sworn this was identical to the one we have, but it does look slimmer after I found the installation instructions. It seems like it's still not "recessed" when compared to a recessed can light, but I'd have to see it in person.
Either way, it's immaterial unless you have cabinets mounted to the ceiling and full-length cabinet doors. Then, like the idiots who installed our kitchen cabinets (the previous owners), you have to mount the cabinets about 3/4" from the ceiling, which looks stupid. I'm still mulling over a fix to that.

its in one of the images..its a very slim led can..you cut open the ceiling drywall roughly 4.5" or whatever size this one is..run the wire to the provided junction box..slide that into the open hole and this unit is sping loaded into the hole.
mounted a few of these (different brand) and works great.

I could have sworn this was identical to the one we have, but it does look slimmer after I found the installation instructions. It seems like it's still not "recessed" when compared to a recessed can light, but I'd have to see it in person.
