CDKeys has an even cheaper price than an expired recent popular deal, now the 3 months of Gamepass are 9.09.

This can be used to convert to Gamepass ultimate (paying $1), although you might want to get as many as possible before, so each month is converted 1 to 1. 36 months would come out to 109.08.
Note: in the previous post there were people saying that it threw an error after adding more than one code, but many were able to stack just fine. Refreshing the page and trying again seems to have worked for a few. Enjoy!

So what exactly is the most cost efficient thing to do here? I buy this game pass then "convert" to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for another $1? And I can buy multiple and hope they stack? I don't have Xbox Live yet either.
Nevermind, after rereading like 5x, I finally get it. I need to buy a lot of these, then convert to Ultimate, which will essentially give me Xbox Live as well, and the amount of months I've purchased here converts to ultimate at a 1:1 ratio as long as i do it first. For those who already have ultimate, it converts at a 3 month to 2 month ratio.
This is mentioned in the "After I join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, can I still redeem Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass codes?" part of FAQ page: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass#faq
For a 3-month Xbox game pass, you'll get 2-month ultimate.

You really have to get someone to try it to find out. Some 3 month codes stack and some don't. If someone has two accounts, it would be easier to test without risk.
Edit : It looks like several have tried now and it does NOT stack. So the year for $36 mentioned in the OP is not possible.
Correct. Good luck finding people that haven't already converted on SD. This deal will have some takers, but it isn't going to blow up big.

In the other thread some people said that refreshing the page and trying to code again worked, otherwise contact them for a refund, in their page doesn't say anything about not stacking
