I was long time ESET Smart Security customer (7 years). After Windows 10 never bought a antivirus again. I've been using default Windows Security that is shipped with Windows 10 which is free. AFAIK Windows Security is pretty solid according to av-comparatives.
FYI this goes on sale for $15 - $20 a few times a year, so I'm not sure I would consider this a deal.
That being said, out of all my paid AV programs the last 5 years, I've been by far the happiest with ESET. Its light on system resources, very good detection rates, and some of the built in tools such as network monitoring are pretty great features which competitors lack.

I agree, I spent 5 years working in a computer repair shop and out of all the tools we used, eset (with malwarebytes taking a close second) had the best detection rates. It's why I started running them on my systems at home.
You're also right that this isn't the best deal but since mine just expired recently I've been waiting for any sale, I don't mind paying a few more bucks over having my systems exposed for who knows how waiting for a better deal.

Do you think win 7 plus eset is safe or better to go to win 10?

Windows 10 will always be safer. Windows 7 is end of support

Windows 7 support will end on January 14, 2020. If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses because you will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft
I also usually buy the 3 PC for about 19 to 20 bux but besides being able to use all 5 this is like 6 bux per pc versus 7 with the 3 PC one since Newegg now charges me tax, Thanks OP and in for 1.
For those wondering, the activation date of the software applies to all 5 PC's whether you use it for 1 PC or all 5
Anyone know if this is active as of the purchase date or can I sit on it a month or so and then start it up?
Still have a month+ left on my current subscription, was going to pick this up to be ready for when my current license expires.
It's good for one year from the moment you activate it. Technically you could buy two and sit on one for a year and get two years. Not sure if that's a good idea but you get the point.
Windows 10 begins 2020 hoping to turn a page on a bug-ridden 2019. Problems ranged from frustrating to limiting, chaotic to simply bizarre and Microsoft was even hit by a whistle-blower exposing the reasons for the increase in instability. But now 2020 is off to a rocky start as well.
