Official Google Pixel 4 XL Fabric Cases are 50% off on Verizon's site. They only have the Just Black and Sorta Smokey. Free pickup in-store or free two-day shipping. I just picked up the Sorta Smokey from my local store after ordering online.
Google cases do not hold up well. In my experience you'll get 3 months if use, or one drop out of a Google case.
Yep, had plastic break on mine, fabric was fraying and looked like crap from the fabric looking dirty. I'm a project manager but my hands were apparently dirty enough from simply being on job sites to ruin it.
Used one on my Pixel 2 for two years and cleaned it with soap weekly. No issues.
Did you put your phone in a shirt or pant pocket? In my experience the rubbing taking it in and out is what kills it. It's good you clean your case but I don't see how that causes it to age any slower.
I've gotten about 7-8 months out of my fabric cases. I've always been able to find them for <$20. Don't get a light color though or you'll be cleaning it often.
Verizon site advertises the same discount on the non-XL case. Added one to my cart, went to check out, and it was $24.99 in my cart. Chatted with customer service about it, and the rep credited my next bill $5 to cover the difference (sales tax notwithstanding). We also chatted about my plan a bit. I ended up not making any changes, but he still gave me a $6 / month discount for a year, just because he was feeling generous or he thought I was nice or whatever.
tl;dr Verizon corrected a $5 pricing error on a $20 phone case by applying $77 in credits.

Wish I read this before I got the sorta smoky. But I still probably couldn't resist the orange accents

The battery life isn't great, but besides that they've ironed out the kinks.
As for the case, you can't say it doesn't look good, but definitely doesn't offer much protection.
