I have had no problem, whatsoever, calling Costco for stock levels and prices when I have the item number. I have gotten countless bottles of clearance wine (.97) this way, and they are always willing to check other stores.

This isn't a price mistake or some crazy cheap deal that a phone call is going to prompt an employee to snag them or fix. That being the case, why wouldn't they want to call?

They could put their friends on if they were unaware of the deal. A fear slickdealers have lol

Since an employee has friends, they can just let their friends know to buy a clearance item before you do. Of course you don't want to drive all over so there's a catch-22.

In theory everyone understands why you call and in a perfect world, there's nothing wrong with calling. However, in today's world there are too many dishonest people and that is why people on this forum are weary of it. It would be nice if we did not need police right?

Can you explain this further? The part about the 97c wine. I could use some clearance wine 😁. What exactly do you ask them? And, how do I find it if I'm in the store?

Yes. My pleasure. Typically prices that are .97 at Costco are clearance and have had additional markdown (case in point this LEGO). I look for these everywhere in the store. This applies to wine as well. To date I have found several deals such as Michael Mondavi M for 99.97, Goldeneye Ten Degrees for 49.97. However I was in Denver recently and they had Delille Chaleur Blanc for 14.99 which was definitely a markdown and not .97 so not sure what that was. Also saw some .97 there that wasn't a great deal.

As far as calling, I typically only call when I have an item number and know it went clearance at another location, and I am looking for more or something of the sort.

In WA, for liquor clearance, you have to look at the small price as the big price is after taxes so it has random numbers.

For fun - you could checkout cotsco97.com

These Costco deals of .97 are a daily occurrence and throughout the store. It is very easy to find if you just look at .97. A deal like this is not something people are going to flock too, nor is nearly any Costco .97 deal. I would call and save the hours of driving if you really want something. Call one store and they will even check other locations

I get it, you just asked why. I know that you dont call because of price mistakes and because of alerting employees of their own deals. I've been to stores where they didnt even know about the deal and was surprised at how great it was. For example, once I got several Versace sunglasses at Pearl Vision for $50 each or less, and judging by the employee's reaction then, had I called about the deal, she would've seen opportunity and buy them herself or tell her friends and family about it.

I disagree with .97 deals not being worthy of a rush. They had those Serrano Hams recently that i wouldve loved to pay $49.97 for or even $74.97, but they sold out when I got there.
