FUTURE LIGHTING via walmart.com [walmart.com] has the Sylvania SMART+ ZigBee RGBW Lightstrip Starter Kit for $23 (no tax or shipping). > Now $16.00

This is an excellent price (it's $38.15 from Walmart directly), so I was skeptical at first, but I took the chance and ordered last week and received a genuine, new-in-box item.

Yes, but it will be a project to do so (although if you are messing with a raspberry pi then you already should be comfortable with this stuff). There are many ways to get this done but here's mine.

To start you need a USB zigbee controller that you connect directly to your Pi. GoControl CECOMINOD016164 HUSBZB-1 USB Hub https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GJ82...fEbCQ6VVZC

Next you're going to have to install HomeAssistant on your Pi and set it all up. Search for hass.io for instructions on that. You'll also need to find a guide online for setting up the usb controller with home assistant.

Next you will need to discover your light strip with HomeAssistant. After that you should be able to set whatever automations you desire using the HomeAssistant app or its web interface.

As you can tell... it's a project. If you already have a smartthings or hue hub then that will be easier. But you asked for a raspberry pi method, so I assume you want the most control at the price of spending effort to set it all up. HomeAssistant is basically a full replacement for a smart home hub that you run on your Pi.

As poelock mentioned there are other light strips if you want to hook up the strip to the Pi directly. The method I mentioned will give you wireless and app control of the strip (and all future zigbee devices you may purchase).
This may suit your needs better. [amazon.com] The 16 foot (non-expandable) indoor/outdoor kit is $23 at Amazon.

Great deal! Hoping these will link to my Hue bridge, as the Smart+ plugs linked up no problem and have kept me from having an outlet devoted to several bridges.

Bought this a year ago on Amazon for ~$45 and loved it. Great price for these, picked up two more. Already have a long strip of compatible LED strips but these are higher quality and come with the zigbee plug. Works great with SmartThings

I need at least 15' total. I'd have to buy 3 of these to get that length.
