I have been using these since sept and initially had a bad camera (or bad firmware) and had a battery issue. Anker was good about swapping it for a new one. 2 of my 3 cameras pick up 25-40 clips per day and the batteries are holding strong. Like i said, 6 months may be pushing it, but at least in my use case, i don't doubt they'll go 3-4 months between charges.
Hi imherefordeal,

I highly recommend prewiring for all sorts of new tech things if you've got the walls opened / are remodeling, building a new home.

Wireless ( wifi ) just is not as reliable as a good wired setup.

Note - there are a lot of references and posts at ipcamtalk on wiring.. suggest checking out those for security camera pre-wiring - also remember to consider other "smart home" wiring - along with security alarm system wiring and over wire while it is easy...
( there should imho be at least 1+ cat6 drop to each room..., ideally where you may place a computer desk / tv / media center )

also if you go the wired route, you can use significantly better cameras than a battery operated one.

I just bought these before christmas... obnoxiously at about $40 more. This is a great deal imo. Yeah the "2" has a newer sony chip in it and the longer battery life, but I wanted the lower profile, more discrete look. So far they're pretty cool and most of the times the motion detection notifications are timely enough but sometimes they can be super delayed (~20 mins)...

Anyone who has these ever test the range of far away you can put a camera from the main box or do these use in home wifi? Any features to tell you placement is too far, outside of just guessing? Is there any NVR ability to tie the base to a NAS for additional storage?

Not sure on the range, mine are within 25 feet of the base. They do support RTSP for connecting to a NAS. Be aware that you will only get the motion clips, they can't do continuous recording.

I already have three cameras, but am tempted to get a fourth.

They were also recently updated to support geofencing which i have been testing over the past few days and it works pretty well.

Will this work with ring app?

No but Eufy has their own app and should also work with Amazon Alexa

Are you aware of the significant differences (benefits/drawbacks) of the old vs. new Sony chip?

Back when I was looking at it I believe I just read it was "better", perhaps mainly on the nightvision side of things. But I watched enough Arlo 2 vs Eufy 2 vs Eufy 2C comparison videos to determine I couldn't appreciate the 2 vs 2C difference.
