Went into the store yesterday to add a new line and they had this deal so I ended up buying a Pixel 4 as well. It's a 30 month bill credit, not an up front discount. And you still have to pay tax on the full value of the phone. Deal appears to be on the 64 GB model only.

Never makes sense to me. I'll take all the bill credits I can get. I have no reason to leave my carrier so what's the downside to credits if I'm not leaving current carrier?
Yes. Definitely rare but recent. Depending on sales of the pixel 4, who knows. It might happen again.

"Bill Credits" just became the new way to market Early Termination Fees, except ETFs you could actually get out of if they messed with your plan/pricing at all. .
