A few of the negative reviews complain of plastic smell.

This deal has been posted earlier too. Anyone who bought this from the earlier deal have the same plastic smell issue?

Have had this for nearly a year and can't recall of a plastic smell. If there was one, it likely disappeared after the first few uses.
Great fryer except for the touch buttons. Some buttons seem more sensitive than others-- it could just be a fault of mine but doesn't happen enough for me to warranty. I use the air fryer for anything that needs crisping up. Fries, chicken wings, katsu / breaded meats, etc. work especially well compared to an oven. Definitely worthy of the counter space it takes up.

The one I got for my aunt continued to have that burning plastic smell after over a dozen uses and it was so bad, it should affect the taste of the food.

This air fryer is one of those models that doesn't have a traditional fry basket form factor and instead uses rubber pieces around the inner perimeter to hold up the nonstick racks.

Do yourself a favor and avoid these kinds of air fryers. Stick with the traditional fry basket form factor where you are not cooking rubber with your food.

A lot of people don't fully take apart these machines before using them - under the frying basket is usually a piece of cardboard or a film to protect the bottom tray. A lot of people don't know this and start to cook with that in there. That will lead to a long lingering smell. And possibly (if it's plastic and not cardboard) melt ...causing the smell always.

Yep...I had to return it. Not only did it emit a strong smell of plastic, but the food tasted of plastic as well. I will say that it did cook food to perfection. But the smell/taste was just awful.

Bought one yesterday from Costco, and ran it on our back porch for 4 20 minute cycles at 400 degrees. Plastic smell started off really strong but then decreased after each cycle. Brought it back inside and cooked up a storm and 0 plastic smell and food tastes great. Happy with purchase!

I have owned 2 and they are great. Our timer reset to 60 minutes so we have to use Amazon Alexa to know the real cook time. BTW This was $54.99 a few weeks ago with the new $4.99 shipping charge. All last year there was no shipping charge and it varied from $54.99-64.99. Not sure why it went up an extra $5

I purchased 1 a couple weeks ago from Costco...full price, I noticed a little bit of a smell the very 1st time I used it not unlike any other air fryer I absolutely love it and I'm buying another one for my daughter's family. The past 2 years I've been using a Nuwave which was fine but I like the size of this basket it is much bigger.

I bought this same one last Feb and love it. never noticed any plastic smell.
At the time, it was on sale for 69.99 so this seems like a good price.

I have the Costco Gourmia air fryer, and let the unit run outside on my porch for 30 minutes at 400 degrees (with the ventilation trays left in the cooking tray). After this initial empty run, I began using the unit indoors and no plastic smell was noticed. We have enjoyed the unit for a couple months with no issues.

I don't know how other air fryers work, but this one sucks up air through a heating element, the heating element on this being very similar to a coil type hotplate like old school ranges used to have. I have had it suck up plastic wrap from the food tray I was heating up, which I smelled right away, as well as a really thin tortilla, which I heard right away, and finally a really thin slice of cheese. I love the machine, if you're cooking something really light put it in between the tray things they give you and you'll be fine.
