Had Asus with above specs. Worked fine for a while then the WiFi wouldn't connect. I thought it was my network but no other devices had a problem. Did a bit of a research and found out Asus wireless network card problem. No update for a very long time. Had to use Ethernet to connect to the internet. Them the laptop gradually started to slow down and bacame slow as molasses. I didn't have any big software installed, only Microsoft office. Everything I would click on, it took forever to open up. I stopped using the laptop. Asus used to be good but not any more. Lost their edge. No good firmware or software support. Terrible. Non need to buy another Asus one

Asus has really really good customer support. They have lomg warranties. Sound like you have a bad motherboard. Have you contacted them? I personally had an excellent experience when my motherboard went bad after 2 years of use and overclocking. they actually sent me a new motherboard and had me send mine back in the same box with prepaid shipping. I have never bought any other brand since.

They have a code currently for $50 off, making it $349 if you can get a manager to apply it in store.
