I'm never committing to go see 7 movies at specific times and dates. I'd rather just go on random Tuesdays for $5 per ticket and smuggle in any candy or drinks I need.

Make sure you scroll down on the page linked in the post to see if your local Regal Cinema is one of the cinemas doing the film fest. The list did not include either of the Regal cinemas near me.

Having partaken of this in the past, I can tell you it's a pretty good deal. Cinemark also does this, but there are distinct differences between the two:

Regal: More dates, rotating showings per day = more flexibility to see the movies around one's schedule.

Cinemark [cinemark.com]: (Also $35) - Less dates (February 3 - February 9) = less flexibility, but, they also offer showings of all the Oscar-nominated shorts (February 7 - February 9), and their concessions offer is a straight 50% off any size popcorn.

So, it really comes down to which one works best for you, but both are pretty slick for movie buffs (considering it comes out to just under $4 per movie).

Can you see these movies with the regular unlimited pass? If so does it make sense to sign up for one month of the unlimited pass instead?

A reminder it's only 7 of 9 films. AMC and Regal will not show The Irishman or Marriage Story.

Also, for Regal, you can use gift cards on the mobile app. If any of you are subscribed to Microsoft Rewards, you can redeem AMC and Regal gift cards, if you want and have enough points.

Here in New York, AMC raised the prices of the film festival despite them only showing 7 movies. >_

That actually sounds pretty cool. I haven't seen any of the nominees, so this works out for me. Hopefully this is still going next Thursday.

Well, even if it were worth it for a month (it would be), Regal forces you to commit for a year. So unless you want to fork over an eventual $216 plus taxes (or more for higher tiers), the film festival pass is probably the way to go if your goal is to see Best Picture nominees.

I'm also not sure if regular Unlimited users can see these movies, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't. Maybe someone else knows more. I'm not sure if ticketing is done differently for these.

Same, but I'm finally at a point in my life where I don't need to smuggle in candy/soda. Instead I'll just buy the (somewhat reasonably priced) 32oz craft beer to bring in the theater with me.

Cool. Though I've already seen two of them (1917 and Joker) and am certainly not likely to make it to the theater over three times next week.

FWIW if you want to watch some of them at home:
available in 4K for $5.99:Available as a $19.99 purchase:Still in theaters:
  • JoJo Rabbit = on blu-ray Feb 18, presumably streaming too
  • Little Women
  • 1917
