Costco SafeRacks Overhead Garage Storage Combo Kit, Two 4 ft. x 8 ft. Racks, 18-piece Deluxe Hook Accessory Pack $239.99

I bought these back in December for $249.99 + $20 tax, and now they are to $239.99 + tax with free shipping.

I think they are the best deal for the quality and accessories that come in each box.

These racks have nice thick steel and large hangers making install easy. The instructions are a little confusing, but keep the width and length dimensions in the manual and it will all come together.

Make sure you install the rack to solid wooden rafters instead of the engineered I-beams.

I may have since I can see them in my basement,

The best way is to cut a small hole and see what is there.

Also, I used a small 1/16 flat head to poke through the dry wall to find the edges of the wood beam to make sure the screws were centered on the beam. Then after I drilled The holes, I filled in the small holes with some compound.

For newer constructions, if there's a second floor above the garage, very likely it is the engineered I-beams in the ceiling. If it's roof above, It should be rafters, which are solid wood. I took pictures before dry walls were put up when our house was under construction. And only a small portion of our garage has rafters. I ended up buying 3 4x4 racks from the manufacturer's website because of the space. It worked out very well.

Hmm, new home built in 2012, and had to look on the assessor page to see that our walk in closet and master bathroom are over the garage. Looks to take up 20% of the space above the garage. So who knows.
