There is a 5qt pro (bowl lift) @ 525 watts on here somewhere, for the same price. Go with the pro model.

I've had both. In general I actually prefer the tilt head most of the time. It's just easier to add ingredients, I feel with the bowl lift the paddle or whichever attachment is always in the way. I also prefer being able to remove the bowl easily without having to remove the attachment. The tilt head handles cookies, cakes, meringues easily and I have only occasionally run into an issue with the smaller motor when making a very dry dough or a lot of bread.

There's refurbs on ebay directly from kitchenaid for 179 in most colors. Other than 20 dollars more for 6 months more warranty, is there any reason to not buy the refurbs?

I know the pro is better but realized it's huge and I wouldn't use it more than half a dozen times a year. I went from looking at the artisan mini, classic, and artisan, and artisan seems to be the happy medium especially at these prices for a full size bowl and slightly higher HP motor. Does all of that seem right?

Thanks - got one. $100 cheaper than amazon and shipped free. 6 month 0% financing, too, on my BB card.

pro sucks because it does not tilt back. Returned my "pro" back to BestBuy and got Artisan from Macy's.
Ah, that's HD, the basic "professional' is not good. HD is ok I guess.
