For those who need a service like this, use Privacy(dot)com. It's free and it lets you create virtual credit cards that you can use for stuff like this. You can set specific per-charge limits so they can't charge you more than they're supposed to. You can also set recurring or one time, or a specific length of time for the virtual card to be active. I use it for all of my free trials and stuff. I don't even need to cancel the trails anymore since I set the card to close after a specific date.

I used Visible for one month last year when they were giving out free phones for signing up with them.

Visible's customer service was shockingly poor. There was no way to contact them by phone or email. The only customer service available was by online chat. If they could not resolve your issue in one chat session, you had to contact them again and start completely over with a new representative.

Multiple times the chat representative told me my problem had been escalated and someone would contact me, but I was not contacted in any way, by phone or by email, other than to receive surveys about their customer service. You can guess my responses.

If you deal with Visible, plan on having technical and billing issues, and plan on not being able to resolve them with their customer service.

You can try using a converter to see if that works: https://www.imei.info/meid

Website shows an "8" hexadecimal check digit (CD) all the way on the right when I enter my MEID -- if you want to take the risk then you can add the check digit that the website shows to your MEID and trade it in
Doesn't work. The lookup tool can't find an IMEI if your phone doesn't have one. Trying to use the MEID itself is pointless. Their form is only for IMEIs, which is different from an MEID. Even if they're used for a similar purpose. MEIDs are too long at 18 digits. Any more than 17 digits and the "Next" button on their form is grayed out and can't be used, so adding the extra check digit doesn't help. Also can't be used with MEID HEX as entering any letters also won't let you continue.

$10 after cashback while trading in my almost useless LG Volt is a good deal, even if the Moto ain't the best phone in the world.

I had the same issue in WA. Removed the phone and started over; the referral code was retained. Went down to $0.

I switched over a few days ago. Porting in wasn't perfect. Took a few chats and 24hrs. After I tested everything out and I'm getting no data. Speedtest spikes high for a half second then dies to 0. I cant even load up google. Had to contact CS again, went though the steps and now escalated again.. not having the best of luck

I'm a little confused. I seemed to have gotten charged $20 right away. Then, it says it will charge $20 when I activate the phone. I thought it was $20 total up front.

Also, I want to know if I can just not activate the phone and cancel the service and keep the phone (sending in the swap phone first, of course).

Thanks!

If you are doing the free swap and want only the 1st month, then...according to their FAQ below. Please confirm if only $20 is being charged for 1st month. I wonder if they charge the other $20 after activation or after they ship the E6???

https://www.visible.com/referral/

"Q: Can I participate in the Swap program and get a Referral credit?
A: Yes. For new members participating in the Swap program, you'll need to pay the full $40 for your first month of service, but your $20 referral credit will be applied to the following month's service charge."

So after 30 min or so of back and forth messages, where he asked me no less than 3 times to go to the about phone status page and even needed a screenshot confirmation because he apparently didn't believe me, he finally comes back as says MEID only phones are not accepted after all. Hard to believe I'm the first he's ever run into, but what'cha goin do. Stick Out Tongue

Just curious so I checked. That seller has a couple Windows 8 Nokia phones for $6.99, but no $5 Win10 phone I could see. That what you're referring to? "W 10 SM" wasn't exactly clear (W 10 = Windows 10? SM = ??? SiM?)

No. If they don't take CDMA only phones, you'd think they'd have the forethought to say so before people keep trying and failing.
sorry not W10...just W phone...made an offer of $5 on the 6.99 phone....laugh out loud

During a chat with Visible yesterday they told me that the $20.00 charge at time of order will be the only charge I see. They claim they won't smack you again when you activate the phone. I'll find out shortly when I activate mine in the next hour or so.

yesterday, I emptied the cart. Today, I re-add and no longer see anywhere to input referral. Is that removed for swap ordering process or system remembers my opt-out of using referral from yesterday?

I disagree and looks like a lot of people are taking advantage of this slick deal.
