Lowes is replacing Kobalt with Craftsman. I would stay away from Kobalt brand all together. All one needs to do is to go to Lows and you will see a very small segment of Kobalt tools and several aisles of Craftsman tools.
I like Kobalt tools but at this point would stay away from anything that has a warranty.
They are replacing hand tools. Kobalt is going heavy into its power tool line, they have said they're releasing 20+ tools this year. So far they've released the ratchet, rotary tool, inflator, and the 4 slot charger.
ryobi 18v deal was 2x 4ah batteries for $99 which came with a free tool. cheaper, higher capacity batteries, more tool selection. 18v is less power than 24v but most people wouldn't notice.

Wrong. The Kobalt hand tools may be diminishing, but the power tools are expanding. As the other poster said, in the last couple of months they've come out with at least 3 new 24v tools.

This deal is also for brushless. I have both the Ryobi tools and these brushless Kobalt tools. I prefer the Kobalt for the higher voltage and brushless, but the Ryobi are plenty capable.
Personally, if I was assembling a tool collection, I would spend the extra on brushless technology.

Where can I find info on what tools they'll be releasing in the future. Would really love if they came out with a router.

I got it thanks. They weren't listed before. I am definitely in for something, probably the ratchet.
