Shouldn't this be 7.1 instead? If it has two front, one center, two surrounds, and two Atmos.

The two front, one center, two side speakers (counting as surround) make the 5. Sub makes the 1, and two up-facing (counting as overhead) make the 2, resulting in 5.1.2.

The optional SPK-8 rear kit adds two additional surrounds for a total 7.1.2. I have a similar setup with the previous gen SK10Y and the SPK-8 set.

The new lineup of LG soundbars were already announced in January so I would expect these to go way cheaper soon. $600 isn't good enough of a deal imo.

Can anyone with this bar give insight as to why it normally would be ~$1300 MSRP? It seems like it has some limitations and lacks some features to ever be considered "premium". I'm trying to decide between this one and the SAMSUNG Harman Kardon HW-Q70R/ZA at Sam's for $529. Or, if someone has a better deal in this price range, I'd love to know. Looking to buy today or tomorrow.

I just bought this sound bar. It showed up in 2 days to my house. The sub woofer is broken and would not pair with soundbar. Contacted LG support and they said the subwoofer and soundbar are like paired together so you cannot just replace the sub woofer. LG believes the sub woofer pairing card inside the unit is most likely defective. Working with Game liquidation now looking to get a refund. I have this thing connected by ARC cable and also tried optical cable with the same results. The soundbar works still but I'm not impressed by the sound at all. I put the thing on MAX 40 setting and its not that very loud. Not sure if the subwoofer would add anything to this unit if it was working. I was expecting sounds to be very clear and precise because this is the top unit from LG sound bars. I'm going to go in best buy to see if it sounds any different.

I have the SL9YG. At 15-20 it is viewing loud. 20-25 it is booming. Anything higher than that and the floor shakes, the dogs get scared, but it is still nice and clear. I also have the rear speaker add on.

Ultimately I think people should stay away from these devices. Paying a lot of money for something that will likely have compatibility issues. If you only use a couple of inputs and have arc/e-arc you'll be all set, but lacking any of that and you'll be annoyed.

I hook the sound bar up to my TV HDMI 2 (ARC). Hook up Fire TV to HDMI 1. Whenever alexa turn on Netflix and other apps on fire TV the whole TV + System is turn on. I am happy with the sound. Try all the preset/ setting, pick the one you like most

GameLiquidations is a SCAM I ordered the LG sound bar from GameLiquidations. Never got them and they give me the run-around. Would not buy from GameLiquidations. Also they are not LG authorized reseller.
