The short answer is most humans like sweet food. Business want to make money. Sweet food is naturally more appealing to most people. Selling more products means more money earned by the business.

Long answer is. .. "Sugar is actually quite healthy when consumed in moderate amounts and in its natural form. The main natural source of sugar is fruit. In prehistoric times, vegetables were the most abundant foods and fruits were scarce in comparison. However, vegetables carry little energy compared to fruits. Therefore, the pre-human primates who consumed the most calories were the ones best able to stave off starvation and pass on their genes. Since fruits were relatively rare, the primates who ate the most of them were best positioned to win the battle of evolution. For this reason, genetic mutations that caused some of our ancient ancestors to crave sugary foods, and to be able to convert the sugar to body fat for future use, ultimately caused them to flourish..."

Thanks for this, allows me to gauge the true savings off the regular price.

Also added the nutrition and ingredients for the first item linked. If you're watching calories keep in mind the calorie density ... one serving is 1/4 cup and has 150 calories (similar to many granolas unless you make it yourself).

This stuff is delicious. it's super caloric but you don't need much in some yogurt to make it taste way better.

I'm guessing it's the 20% off using Amex points for select accounts.

My thoughts as well. There are 6 grams added sugars, that is 6 grams too many. I usually buy musli because they are sugar free. I wonder why they can't make any granola without adding sugar. I wish someone could explain
