Myself and 2 others just played last night... very solid theme work and well balanced game...

I'm normally not a huge fan of asymmetrical stuff like this... (one player is the shark, who is against anywhere from 1-3 other players as the "good guys" from the original film working co-operatively) but it does a great job with making both sides interesting and very playable.

Game plays out over 2 phases

Phase 1 the shark is trying to eat swimmers at the various beaches, and avoid being detected/tagged...you have a few possible options each turn plus 4 single-use bonus powers.... the good guys are trying to rescue swimmers, detect and tag the shark, and each of the 3 characters has different abilities they can use on their turn.

At the end of phase 1 (which happens either when the shark eats a specific # of swimmers or you manage to tag the shark twice) you flip the board over for phase 2- the fight.

Based on how many swimmers the shark got in phase 1 that determines two things:

1) How many extra single-use power cards the shark gets in phase 2

2) How many extra equipment cards the good guys get in phase 2

In this phase the good guys are trying to kill the shark, the shark is trying to either kill all 3 good guys, or destroy the boat... each side has a number of interesting options and mechanics toward their goals.

Definitely would recommend it as a lot of fun for this price

Played this for the first time this weekend, it's amazing and well worth it.

Had more fun playing this than many more expensive games. Highly recommend.

7.5 on bgg, much better than I anticipated, think I will "bite" Wink

This is also in a "3 for 2" category of Amazon. Some good options there for more games, such as adding Coup and Sushi Go if you are already buying this and don't have those games yet (would be <$5 each after discounts).

Order from Target, never from Amazon because with Amazon it would take you forever to find two other $12 games you want. With Target you only need to buy one. You need to order this game for shipping or in store pickup. Then you need to add two copies of I have no Secrets by Penny Joelson for $12.00 each to be picked up in any store. Then each item will average out to $8. And you don't pick up the books and let it cancel automatically.

I highly recommend it. My 9 year old -really- wanted this game and I thought it was going to be stupid (a board game about Jaws? Really?) but I let him buy it anyway. My 10 and 9 year-old sons and myself have probably played it 10 times since he got it. We have all upped our strategy in subsequent playings.

Once you understand and remember the rules you can get through a game in 45-60 minutes which is about all my boys can handle unless it's Catan Seafarers.

Just keep the rules handy - make sure to keep note of specific rules - obeying the "nearby" and "adjacent" rules are important to keep the gameplay balanced.

For this price it's worth it, even if you decide you completely abhor it, though you probably won't.

I picked up this plus the D&D Essentials set and Tides of Madness for under $30 shipped. Not bad at all.
