LGA laptops are a thing of the past and honestly this is just poor advice. The inefficiency and extra space an LGA design takes has no place in this thin and light gaming notebook segment. Buy the best notebook you can now and if it becomes too slow or outdated 3+ years down the line just sell it an upgrade.

That's a 17.3" and only a 2060. There's a price premium fitting this much power into a 15.6" design. Also that's a Walmart brand; hopefully the quality is better this time around but their Overpowered series has had some concerning issues in the past. It's like a whole brand based around the "Black Friday Special" concept - cut corners, features, and quality while still being able to stick to the big specs so people don't notice the difference until they look closely. Comparable models would be something like an MSI GS65 Stealth, Gigabyte Aero, Asus Zephyrus, or Razer Blade

I think I responded when this was posted a few days ago, but I have one and it's a fantastic machine. I highly recommend getting the battery and 240Hz screen upgrades (note, 240Hz will overall smooth out games, it's not "wasted" just because a 9750H can't reach those framerates). Happy to answer any questions.
Purchased with the 244 hz. It was hands down the best looking laptop I ever had. However, a few rgb keys got stuck. And dell customer service was honestly worst.
The R2 version is worse. R2 has soldered ram and a slew of other issues, while this one is actually what people seek

also the EVOO is a legitimately good deal, but at 17" with larger bezels, it is much bigger than this this.

Note this is not the newer R2 version.

There are better deals on very similar spec'ed gaming laptops. Check out the 17.3" deal here on the EVOO last month as an example of a great design for a much lower price.

If you're spending 1400+ on a laptop you need to be going to a boutique seller like Eurocom, XoticPC, HID, or AVADirect since they offer LGA cpus not BGA which extends their lifetime use. Not Dell. Great discount if you have Dell bucks or a finance account with them tho.

Are there any deals on laptops with large batteries, like the 90WHr battery on the alienware?

I just bought this laptop a few days ago but it's still being processed and shipped. All the research I've done suggests that the thermals on a slimmer laptop with these components are always going to be mediocre. Some people were seeing 90-99 degrees Celsius. First thing many people do is undervolt the CPU and repaste

Thanks for this clarifying post, I had the same feeling about the value of these other early posts. What I see based on the specs is a machine that offers all the specs combined I care about. Most other offers lack WiFi 6 or just have one RAM stick or no Thunderbolt 3 and so on. The only thing that bothers me here is the manufacturer and the bad customer service reputation that comes with should anything ever come up. Other than that it's a great offer, especially with the suggested upgrades of screen refresh rate and battery capacity.

You have the option to upgrade to the 90WHr but you sacrifice the HDD bay. There's another slot for an additional M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD so if you're ok with sticking with M.2 memory it's worth upgrading to the 90WHr.

I spoke to a couple reps before purchasing and the $950 off only applies to this link. I couldn't even spec it myself and use the code so you have to use this link. I ordered it a few days ago and it's confirmed but even with the expedited shipping, it's still projecting to ship out in March...

People who are considering the R2 should also note that it's much harder to get to the GPU/CPU to repaste if that's what you plan on doing. They say the thermals on the R2 are better than this one but I don't think that's completely true. Almost everyone I've seen has had to undervolt and repaste to get their thermals under control. This older version is super easy to access the CPU/GPU. I will say I really like the styling of the R2 but I still think this version is too good to beat.
