This is mainly used to remotely on/off high draw items, like dust collectors while woodworking. I had previously tried other items marketed to people wanting to remotely control christmas lights and the like but my dust collector broke them. This usually runs about $70.

I use a WeMo plug switch and Alexa to control a Jet DC1100 dust collector. Switch is rated for 15a and collector is 11a @120v. Works great.

I have this for a year. Works great. No problem turning dust collector from any place in my shop (~500 sq feet). I paid 65 - 10%, which is more expensive than price here.

I've been using the Christmas light remote for over 3 years without a problem. And this is only good for up to 1.5hp and i have the harbor freight 2hp DC. I need one with two remotes but can't find anything with a 15amp.
Looks like you can add an extra remote for $70. Guess I'll bite

I have the same dust collector too and have also been using a Christmas light remote plug that just died yesterday. Perfect timing for this deal!

I was going to suggest the same. Smart plugs are usually rated 12-15 amps depending on the make and model. Those things usually cost $15-$20 each. And you can buy physical buttons to trigger those switches if you don't want to use voice commands. The downside of that is the obvious requirement of WiFi coverage in your shop, and there's usually a delay, less than 1 second for me but definitely noticeable.

I have the harbor freight also. It's actually rated higher than what it pulls. It really is closer to a 1.5hp motor and pulls about 12 amps average.

I upgraded the impeller in mine to a 12inch and it puts out a good bit more now.

I got 4 of these on lowes clearance that I have been using for various tools and my dust collection system and they work fine: https://slickdeals.net/f/13753763-prime-black-remote-control-outdoor-wireless-outlets-2-49-lowes

Edit: That said, what you end up with will clearly be based on the power requirements of your system Smilie.

Cheaper solution that may work for some: TPLink HS100 for like $10 which handles 12A and is controllable through Alexa or smartphone app.

FYI I blew up the HS110 version of this using my harbor freight dust collector. It's now non-responsive. Probably works for lower amperage units.
