As a network professional it sounds sort of cool to have that kind of expansive network at home, except that most people are not even getting that kind of throughput to the internet. for example, I have 200mbps down, and 10mbps up.
It's all gimmicky -- most important for good service at home is to have adequate coverage so there arent any drops or disconnections. Getting this through costco is worth the extra bucks as in the future if it starts acting weird or glitching out, the return policy will likely be worthwhile.
The advantages here are a self identifying channel system, which identifies the best channel at a given moment for a device, to get top speeds. And the fact that points can piggy back off each other, meaning the point doesn't have to have direct contact back to the router, but can use the other points to get the data back.
This being said, walls, floors, and other forms of interference will slow down connections just like it does with other routers and wifi devices.
