I'd argue quality is better with Sony. I've had a lot of problems with LG and boards blowing out. Never had an issue with Sony.
I think all companies have quality issues at some level or levels or their line up. For example, I never had problems with Sony, owned Sony most of my life untill I decided to get a lower end 850 model years ago and it was nothing but problems. Had it replaced 2 times. But on the other hand, every single high end Sony I had was flawless. From the old XBR Sony's and the Trinitons, to the Z9D. Never a single thing.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Sony fan, but their OLED's are completely overpriced. You can get a C9 for $1699, why spend almost 1k more for this?
The sony is better because of the upscaling abilities. If I'm not mistaken it is a c9 panel with sony processing power. The Sony is hands down a better set.

Yes, but the processing advantage is not worth $1000.

What about the Z9G?
While I am upvoting you as helpful, I have to note that the Sony has imax enhanced capability while the LG does not.
Is it worth $1k more? Not in my opinion.

best by a minutia of difference, at a "shoot out" sponsored by a dealer that specializes in selling uber expensive tvs.
