it was 159 on thanksgiving.
Nice deal! I have a similar model and really enjoy it. Comparable pixel depth to a 23 inch 1080p with the widescreen.

This is really tempting. A great price but I'm not sure I could miss the extra vertical resolution w/ a full 2k monitor (2560 x 1440).

If it's just a monitor but wider I would imagine it behaving the same; you can turn it vertical

Any monitor that is VESA compatible can be used in portrait/vertical setup but the question comes down to if you will be mounting or not,... not many stands rotate into portrait setup

Anyone know how this would work with an AppleTV or FireTV attached - would the resolution be an issue, or would this aspect help eliminate stupid letterboxes when watching movies.

Almost wish I would have waited. Recently got the Lenovo slickdeal. Should I return them and get this?

Edit: Maybe I'll stick with the 2 Lenovo C32q-20 that I have. Comparison this LG, it only supports 16 million colors where the Lenovo supports 1.07 billion and 1ms better response time.

The aspect ratio is 2.37, whereas many movies are 2.35, so there will likely be very slight bars on either side for those movies. Of course, 16:9 movies will have large bars on the side, similar to 4:3 video on a standard widescreen monitor/TV, and 4:3 content will result in black bars taking up almost half the screen (44%). IOW, regardless of which aspect ratio display you have, you're going to have bars; it just depends on which ratio you watch the most and whether bars on the top and bottom or on the sides bother you more.

This isn't bad but the 32" is selling for merely $20 more on the same site. It is an IPS panel so you can look at the screen horizontally or vertically. I would verify what the refresh rate is prior to purchase because it doesn't state it. 1m:1 contrast ratio means this monitor is pretty bad color quality. I would only get this for a side monitor or business-use. This wouldn't do anything graphically intensive like video games any justice whatsoever. 5ms vs 1ms response time is not going to be noticeable. I'm assuming it's a 60htz. Sucks that this isn't curved but for the price you can't expect it to be. It's a nice cheap monitor that if breaks you won't cry about. LG always has some nice cheap monitors vs Samsung.
