PSA: If you have a Sam's Club membership they have a lifetime headlight restoration service which costs around $40 and includes a UV-cured sealant which lasts 5 years. If it ever wears off or you need it done again it's free.

I've used several of these DIY kits and 1) it's a LOT of work to do them right 2) they only last a short period of time. 3) I found that the 3M one with the drill attachment was best, but it's around $20. The $40 Sam's deal is a steal.
I agree. I also buy a new car whenever my oil needs changing. I figured it was cheaper than driving to buy oil, buying a filter, draining the oil, replacing the filter, putting in new oil, and then driving to drop off the used oil.
Just use an abrasive toothpaste, a shop towel, and elbow grease. Afterward, apply 303 UV protectant or something better. You'll be surprised by how much yellow ends up on the towel / spent paste

Very easy to use. Just used this few weeks ago and bought a while back on similar sale.

Does this work really well, or would I be better off to use one that uses a drill? My headlights are pretty bad.

if you have the drill, that would be the way to go. otherwise you will be sanding for like an hour

I have both and hand sanding is quicker for me. 10-15 and I have it completed.

Consumer Reports reported on this item
It is excellent
However, words to the effect, usually lasts about 1 year
Sylvania headlight restorer is the best, but at $21 plus tax...my experience lasts 3 years

Yes, takes 5 minutes But about 20-30 minutes with prep time between steps

all i use is turtle wax polishing compound and a foam pad on a drill. results in a clear lens but only lasts about a year because i never get around to applying some sort of UV protectant.
