Barkeeper is great for a mildly abrasive polish (silverware, sinks, etc). This is for stainless appliances, mainly. Barkeeper's is too abrasive for large, aesthetically demanding surfaces, IMO.

And I include in that the way we collectively pretend we all have commercial kitchens by purchasing stainless applicances that are more finicky than the black and white appliances that preceded them...

Wow, TIL that BBY sells household cleaning supplies.

Ever get the feeling that every single retailer is just converging on selling all of the same stuff?

I've tried this on my fridge and didn't think it accomplished much of anything.

Barkeeper's friend is the best thing I've found for real stainless steel. It contains oxalic acid which gets rid of rust and other impurities. Then the newly exposed stainless steel oxidizes and forms a new layer of chromium oxide which protects and blends back in with the surrounding area.

Yeah, I'd be afraid to use it on these new "black stainless" or "fingerprint resistant stainless" for fear of removing whatever coating has been added.

The best metal polish around is likely FLITZ if anyone needs

They're lying. CCC says the average price is $5.98.

Edit: Quoted wrong post, sorry.
