These guys charge a pretty penny for equipment and then cut further updates

I had to replace a couple Sonos amps, luckily I had them for 5 years but I hear some people had for less than a year before they announced the planned obsolescence
To be fair, they say those devices just simply cannot handle further enhancements/updates.
And it doesn't matter when you bought them, it matters when the device was manufactured.

Didn't they just randomly atop supporting one of their older speakers? Stinks for late adopters.

I just bought an amp last year because at the time there was no announced plan of them updating it. But it does still currently work and they said that when it does become obsolete it will still work, just newer features won't work on newer Sonos products grouped with older. Which they're not being super specific on the details yet either. Figured I would wait out upgrading the amp and see what happens.

And for people wondering these products "going obsolete" we're all originally released 5-10 years ago.

How does the audio compare between a single Sonos Move used in a medium-sized room, and a stereo paired set of two Sonos One's in the same medium-sized room?

The stereo ones will sound better. A move is very similar sounding to a single One (imo, and I have a move and a stereo pair of play:1).

Fact:

"I own this and the new Bose Portable Home Speaker ($349), and this one can't beat the Bose in any ways"

I've even did the so called BLIND TEST, all people chose the new BOSE (https://www.bose.com/en_us/produc...eaker.html) as they said it sound so soothing, professional & with complete treble and deep bass.

(When it comes to software & design, Sonos beats Bose, most of the time, but I'm spending money for the so called SOUND QUALITY)

I'm done with SONOS!

Have a great day to y'all
I find this review hard to believe. I'm just not a Bose fanboy

That's a little misleading. Every model Sonos labeled as a "legacy product" is one they stopped selling new at least 5 years ago, and they've said they will support all current devices a minimum of 5 years [imgur.com]after they stop selling them.

I've heard of people who bought refurbished products from Sonos in the past couple years that will become legacy products in May, and that does suck. Sonos should have handled those better IMO.

Also, when the product becomes a legacy product, it will still work. It just won't receive updates, which means that eventually it will become incompatible with new app updates and will lose functionality over time. Sucks, but that's the way tech products work. No one updates their products forever. If you wants something that's never going to be obsolete, go back to analog. Buy traditional amps and wire speakers. They'll never need updates, but you'll lose a lot of modern creature comforts.

As for this product, it just came out a few months ago. So it's probably got 4-5 years of product life, then at least an additional 5 years of support. So we're talking at least 10 years of use, probably more. And after that, it'll still work as a Bluetooth speaker.

Hmm... I have $50 gift card from the last Sonos deal. Can I use a gift card and still get a gift card in return?

Goodness gracious, your statement is contradicting itself.

I have both now and I can tell you that the new Bose portable speaker has much better SOUND QUALITY!

So, it doesn't matter if you or me are NOT a BOSE or SONOS fans...

Oh gosh, please don't spend $800 on this. You can get much better sound with separates.
